Dove Coconut Creme Eggs

Despite this being my last Easter candy review, these were actually the first candy I bought for the Easter season. I found them in the same Rite Aid as the 3 Musketeers marshmallow, but on a different lunch break trip with a different friend. That day we had gone over to check out the Valentine’s Day candy sale, so while my friends was searching for deals, I was looking for what’s new and different. At the time, the only new thing I saw were these Dove Milk Chocolate Coconut Eggs. So even thought the price was kinda steep ($4.99) I bought some anyways so I could get a jump start on my Easter reviews. And as you can see I’ve procrastinated very well.

The green color scheme of this packaging is festive, and the bag is filled with green foil wrapped half egg candies. I love how the illustration of the candy on the bag looks like a coconut in a way, with it’s brown shell and white interior, except egg shaped of course. Each egg is only a “half”, so one side is flat. You can tell they’re molded chocolates by the shape of them. They have a pungent aroma of sweet coconut and chocolate. The effect is very, very sweet.

One thing you gotta give Dove, is that their chocolate is very smooth and velvety. These eggs melt in your mouth and have the richest texture. The chocolate is creamy and sweet, and you kinda get that throat burn from them. The coconut interior is hard to make out at first texture-wise, but the flavor is unmistakable. It’s milky and tropical, with coconut notes that are more authentic than not. Still, there’s something about it that feels a little “off”, and I think that’s because there’s no coconut flakes in them. I guess the whole candy industry are “no pulp” orange juice drinkers considering how they never add flakes into their coconut candies.

These were tasty, but still lacking what I desire in coconut Easter candy. I prefer the Russell Stover Coconut Eggs, but that’s just me. If you’re a big coconut fan, you should definitely try these before they disappear.

3 Musketeers Marshmallow Bag

I was really surprised to find these in Rite Aid the other day. I was on my lunch break and my friend needed to run into the store for some batteries. I killed my time pursuing the candy aisle, feeling pretty confident I’ve found most everything that needed finding this year. I then laid eyes on this bag, which really looks like another other normal, Easter themed 3 Musketeers bag, and saw the words “Limited Edition” written on the top. This caused me to take a second look, and I saw that under the 3 Musketeers logo, the word “Marshmallow” was written. O ho, something new here? Needless to say I brought a bag home with me.

Marshmallow has always been a “big” candy theme for Easter. Marshmallow eggs, rabbits and of course the infamous Peeps began with Easter. So it doesn’t surprised me terribly that 3 Musketeers would jump on the bandwagon.

3 Musketeers Marshmallow

The candy pieces inside come in little squares like the normal minis. The look the same, the smell is very sweet, buttery and a hint of chocolate. Each are individually wrapped so they’re easy to bring a few to work or nibble some with coffee.

Biting one in half, you see a pristine white interior of fluffy nougat. Notice, the interior isn’t marshmallow, but marshmallow flavored nougat. The texture is light, airy and very rich feeling in the mouth. I get a very strong and sweet vanilla flavor, which gives it that “marshmallow” quality. In fact, the vanilla brings out the chocolate flavors more, so it’s a very flavorful combination. This is still very sweet like all 3 Musketeers, so be sure to have a drink handy.

Overall, this candy is really just a 3 Musketeers with a vanilla nougat interior. Get some normal 3 musketeer minis and the some of those fall released strawberry ones together and you have a Neapolitan 3 Musketeers much like the original candy bar! Cool!

Snickers Peanut Butter Square

There’s a new Snickers on the block! I am unsure about the distribution of these, but I’m starting to see them around in most stores, so chances are they’ll be easy to find. I believe I picked this one up in Target, so that would be a good place to start checking. So what is this new Snickers? And why is it squared?

Well, to start, there’s it extremely bright, eye-catching yellow package. This Snickers also doesn’t have it’s normal caramel stripe, but instead a ribbon of peanut butter. The comes in the squared bit, unlike all the other Snickers (aside from the mini’s, of course) this one isn’t one long bar. It’s broken into two, square candy pieces. They’re easily an inch by inch square. What makes up this bar is a layer of peanut butter, a nougat layer with peanut chunks in it, all enrobed in milk chocolate.

The wrapper encourages you to twist the package closed and “save one for later”. I gave the other square to my boyfriend.

The texture of these are dryer than normal Snickers bars. The caramel added some moisture to the bar, but since here it’s been replaced with the peanut butter, it’s a much sticker candy to eat. It tastes good, it’s a rich peanut butter and chocolate flavor. The peanut butter is smooth, creamy and salty and blends nicely with the chocolate flavor. This bar still has the bits of peanut chunks like a regular Snickers does. It’s a great candy if you’re a peanut butter fan, it’s not as intense as a Reese’s but it’s pretty close.

I’m not sure how much of this bar feels like a regular Snickers since the peanut butter really intensifies this bar. It’s really tasty and I plan on returning to it soon since it’s a fantastic taste. A must try if you’re a peanut butter fan.

M&Ms Cherry Cordial Bag

I was so, so excited to see these Cherry Cordial M&Ms on the shelves with all the other holiday candies this year. I haven’t seen these since the Wildly Cherry M&Ms disappeared from stores. I really loved them back then and was excited to have them back in my candy eating life.

The M&Ms come in an attractive red bag with, well, Red on them in the same sort of snow globe motif that Green was in for the Mint bag. The M&ms themselves are a mix of red and maroon colors, and it really makes me wish they’d do away with the blue M&M and replace it with the maroon color in the regular mix. It’d look SO much better.

M&Ms Cherry Cordial

The M&Ms smell slight of cherry, and it reminds me of a Cherry Tootsie Pop rather than cough syrup. Yay!

They taste just like they smell: a rich, sweet, dark cherry flavor that is more sweet and fruity than fake and medicinal. The cherry flavor quickly dissipates and you then get the smooth, sweet chocolate. Very impressive, as they taste just as I remember them.

I shared these with my boyfriend just to make sure I wasn’t looking through rose colored glasses with these. He adored them as well, along with the other friends I shared them with. Do give these a try, as I haven’t come across anyone who hasn’t adored them yet.

M&Ms Mint Bag

M&Ms has some special holiday flavors in stores this year. The first one is the Mint M&M and it’s easy to spot it’s green package on store shelves. The package sport Green in a snow globe with snowflakes and then pictures of the M&M candies besides her. It’s fitting that Green represents the Mint M&Ms, especially since she was on the original wrappers back when Mint M&Ms made an appearance as a limited edition Mint Crisp flavor for the new Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls movie.

The mint M&Ms are beautifully festive in red, green and white colors. The size of the M&Ms vary a lot here. There’s some smaller ones and a few that are very large. That makes reaching your hand in the bag pretty fun ad you can feel the different sizes, all smooth and delightful feeling like candy pebbles.

M&Ms Mint

So how do they taste? So very, very good. These have a wonderful crunch when you bite down on them from the candy shell, and you immediately taste the wonderful minty flavor that’s extremely refreshing. The chocolate adds just the right amount of sweetness too. Just as you finish the first one you find your hand reaching in the bag for another. And another. And another.

These are not only festive looking but festive tasting as well. I can’t get enough of this flavor and I highly recommend these to anyone who’s a mint/peppermint fan or an M&M fan.
