Sour Patch Jelly Beans

This bag of Sour Patch jelly beans was a new find for me this year, and I believe that it’s a new item for this season, as I don’t recall seeing it in previous years. This is a classic example of taking a popular candy, changing it a tad, and re-selling it. So instead of being shaped like kids, the sour patch shape here is beans. I wonder if the Kids eat these beans for dinner? Hmmm.

The bag smells sour and the jelly beans make a funny dense noise when you mush them around in the bag. These jelly beans have little quality control, as they were all different shapes and sizes and many were fused together. They are all colorful and have that sanded dusty coating on them.

Redberry: Immediately sour and has that weird medicinal fake “red” flavor to it. It gradually sweetens, but the flavors stays the same: odd and artificial.

Lime: Starts out tart and zesty and tastes a bit like floor cleaner.

Lemon: It’s wonderfully sour and zesty like a real lemon. I love it, and I found myself sorting through the bag just to get this flavor.

Orange: Nicely sour with very rounded juicy notes of orange that gradually sweetens as you chew.

If you’re already a fan of Sour Patch Kids, you’ll probably love these jelly beans, so I suggest seeking them out.
