I had heard of Nestle Crunch doing a series of candy bars based off of popular Girl Scout Cookie flavors. The problem is with these candy rumors is you never really know if they’re true or not, and until you either see them on a blog or in stores, there’s no way of telling for sure. I happened across these in my local Ralph’s supermarket, in a display right by the self checkout stations. I was in luck as they were on sale to boot. I grabbed one of each flavor and did my best to keep them cool in this intense Los Angeles summer hear until I had time to review them.
I first have to admit that I’m not a big fan of girl scout cookies. I’m a fan of the girl scouts and what they stand for, just no the cookies. I blame my Mom for always making cookies homemade and from scratch all my life. So I haven’t ever had the Peanut Butter Creme cookies that this candy bar is based on. I open the wrapper and he bar smells very intensely of peanut butter. It just reeks of it, which is good if you’re a big peanut butter fan. The candy bar is separated into two pieces, so you can enjoy one now and save the other for later or share with a friend.
The flavor is a peanut butter lover’s dream. It tastes intensely of peanut butter, so much so that you can barely taste the chocolate. There’s a thick layer of peanut butter sandwiched inside each of the three rows of wafers. The peanut butter is rich and delightfully salty. The wafers are crisp and crunchy. The bits of puffed rice that decorate the top are very crispy as well. As you can guess this bar has excellent texture. A great combination of smooth, creamy and crunchy.
This candy bar is super tasty, more so than I was expecting. As good as it is I still am not compelled to go and try the cookie inspiration. But I can certainly enjoy it for what it is: a really tasty, crispy peanut butter bar. If you’re a fan of peanut butter, I highly recommend giving this a try if you happen to come across it.
