Now we return to the Nips! I’ll spare you the long intro that I included in my last Nips review. Thankfully there’s lots of different Nips flavors so there’s something for every one. Here’s my take on another set of flavors I was able to find.
The caramel is the only taste at first, creamy and sweet. I am taken back immediately to the flavor of the caramel on fresh caramel apples. Once I work on it a bit is when the peanut butter flavored center comes out, leaking through the cracks made in the caramel by my teeth. The flavor is nice and nutty, with a good dash of salt and pairs nicely with the sweet caramel.
I found out I should chew these the hard way. They’re so sticky they’ll cement your molars together. I found light chewing and rolling in my mouth allowed me to work the flavors yet still keep myself occupied.
I was really excited to try this one, as everyone knows chocolate and caramel are a match made in heaven.
This one starts like all the other Nips, with the same sweet caramel coating. Sadly, the “chocolate parfait” center tastes of those diet packets of hot cocoa. Ugh. Enough said.
The outside tastes like this wonderful mix of coffee or a cappuccino with the caramel. It’s very creamy, smooth and sweet. The center is the same as the Chocolate Parfait, with that fake hot cocoa mix taste. I find that disappointing because the caramel coating is so nice, and it’s taken down a notch by the fake interior.
I think these Nips still stand up well in regard to caramel candies you can find in most stores. I think the peanut butter is the best of the bunch here, but I know there are many fans of the other flavors despite my beef with the fake tasting chocolate interiors. They’re something I plan on adding to my normal candy routine, since the long lasting texture is always a winner in my book.
